What is UBLKIT

Explained by the maker

UBLKIT, the missing piece in the electronic invoice world.

UBLKit.be fills a crucial gap in the world of electronic invoicing by making complex UBL (Universal Business Language) documents accessible, readable, and usable for everyone. As more companies adopt structured e-invoices, users often struggle to view, extract, or convert these XML files without costly software or technical skills. UBLKit offers a free, intuitive solution to convert UBL to PDF, extract embedded documents, or create new UBL files from scratch—giving accountants, freelancers, and developers the tools they need to work confidently and transparently with digital invoices

It's mission

UBLKIT wants to be the easiest tool you will use to look at an electronic invoice. Drag it here and in the next second you have a readable invoice

Ultimately we want you to double-click on an electronic invoice on your computer and open the file as easily as any other standard file on your computer. You shouldn't have to even think about it. In the meantime, UBLKIT wants to offer you an easy way to visualise an electronic invoice or UBL file.

What can you do with UBLKIT?

The following features define the different tools from UBLKIT

Non-technical
Not associated with any of the major players in the market. No other objective than helping the user to manage his electronic invoices. There are no limits and no member obligations.
Independant
Not associated with any of the major players in the market. No other objective than helping the user to manage his electronic invoices. There are no limits and no member obligations.
Reading UBL files
The UBL file is a technical file, difficult to read. If you open it, you can't easily see what this document is about. UBLKIT displays the invoice in a normal way as a readable invoice.
Convert a UBL to a readable PDF invoice
If you receive an invoice in raw UBL format, you can use UBLKIT to present a readable PDF format of this invoice.
Convert a PDF document to an UBL
Convert your own PDF invoice to a correct UBL invoice with your PDF invoice embedded so that your customer can receive your invoice in his preferred format. That is becoming more and more important knowing that e-invoicing between enterprises becomes required on January 1st, 2026
Validation flow
A simple validation flow can be used in UBLKIT Pro: upload the document, indicate who must approve. This person will get an email with a link. The document is presented and the person may indicate his decision.

UBLKIT's history

UBLKIT was not created in 1 day... several years of experience were needed before landing here.

  • Redesigning

    July 2025

With the obligation of electronic invoicing, UBLKIT gains in popularity. Several companies contacted me for new features. All of it needed to be free. So I'm working on a new version of an online tool, including a professional version and a portable/local version. Those versions will have to be paid for. The basic online tool stays free.

  • Deprecating the Windows app

    October 2022

More and more people called me for installation issues on their machine. Even if I had removed the download links from the site, people still found the way to the installable. I found out some accountancy companies had included the download link in their own manuals. So I finally removed the executable: Other people are making money on UBLKIT while not even offering correct support.

  • Google ads...

    May 2021

Hosting the application, even as simple as this one costs money. There weren't that many donations. So I decided to incorporate Google ads to the application. I didn't really like it, but this was a way to compensate the costs.

  • Online conversions

    April 2019

There was a website. There was a local installable application. But soon I got questions on installation issues on other people's pc... Why not offer an online alternative? The UBLKIT online was born. You could upload PDF and UBL and transform it to the other side. The online tool was free to use, even if you had some limitations in the number of files, and the files could be cleaned any moment.

  • UBLKIT.be

    September 2018

I had the tool and could share it with colleagues. When other people started to ask for the tool, a simple website was created to explain UBLKIT and to offer the possibility to download the tool and install it locally. All for free.

  • UBLKIT for Windows

    February 2018

The command line was fine, but not usable by colleagues and non-technical people. At the time Visual Studio was the only way I knew to create an application with a User Interface. You could extract UBL files, get the PDF from a UBL file, generate a PDF from a UBL file that did not contain the PDF, convert a PDF file into UBL. It allowed bulk operations as well.

  • First code

    April 2017

With the experience with UBL and the continuous need for tools for manipulating the files, the first code was written in PHP to be executed in command line: extract the UBL file from an application and store them based on the supplier's name. UBLKIT was born
